My individual counseling services are designed to help you overcome personal challenges and achieve your goals. Provided with a supportive and non-judgmental environment, you can explore your thoughts and feelings, gain insights into your behavior, and develop strategies for positive change.
My couples counseling services can help you and your partner improve communication, resolve conflicts, and build a stronger relationship. Whether you are facing challenges related to intimacy, trust, or other issues, together, we can work through them to achieve greater satisfaction in your relationship.
My family counseling services are designed to help families overcome challenges related to communication, conflict, addiction, and other issues. I work with families to identify strengths and weaknesses, improve communication and problem-solving skills, and develop a stronger sense of cohesion and support.
My child and adolescent counseling services are designed to help young people overcome a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, learning difficulties, and more. Using evidence-based cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and mindfulness techniques, I help children and teens develop coping skills, improve self-esteem, and achieve greater success in school and other areas of life. For those students who are experiencing academic stress and/or struggle due to learning differences, I am experienced in stress management and the sometimes needed emotional support that accompanies academic rigor.
My addiction counseling services can help you overcome substance abuse and other addictive behaviors. Using a variety of evidence-based techniques in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused narrative therapy and mindfulness, I can help you increase and sustain motivation for change, develop coping skills, build a support network, and achieve lasting recovery. I also provide support for family members affected by addiction and work well with adult children of alcoholics.
If you're struggling with anxiety or panic symptoms, I’m ready to help. Specializing in anxiety therapy techniques from solution-focused narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and polyvagal theory, I can help you learn practical coping strategies to manage your symptoms. Together, we’ll work to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets your unique needs. My goal for you is to find relief as soon as the first session.
Depression can make it difficult to enjoy life and engage in activities you once loved. I can help you overcome depression and develop a more positive outlook on life. Offering evidence-based treatments in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), and solution-focused narrative therapy, we can work together to find relief for your depression symptoms and begin to build the fulfilling and joy-filled life that you deserve.
If you've experienced trauma, it's important to seek help from a qualified therapist. Trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing), I can help you work through the trauma and develop healthy coping strategies. EMDR is designed to help people process and recover from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. I utilize EMDR to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), phobias, childhood trauma, and distress symptoms due to recent traumatic events. Mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and solution-focused narrative therapy are also used to treat symptoms due to trauma.
Relationships are an important part of our lives, but they can also be challenging. Together, we can work to improve communication, build intimacy, and strengthen your relationship. Using a solution-focused narrative approach, you and your partner will rewrite the story of your relationship, adding your most desired aspects to the already working strengths of your relationship. Conflict is a symptom and doesn’t have to be a deal-breaker. Allow me to help you overcome the challenges and begin again to enjoy the reasons you chose each other in the first place.
Stress is a natural part of life, but when it becomes overwhelming, it can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health. My stress management services are designed to help you learn practical strategies to manage stress and improve your overall well-being. Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, polyvagal theory, and solution-focused narrative therapy I can help you look at your circumstances in a way that feels more manageable and see yourself as completely able to overcome the challenges. Stress doesn’t have to cause suffering. Learning healthy ways of managing pressure and feeling empowered to move through it will allow you more peace, comfort, and confidence.
After earning a M.Ed. in Educational Psychology and Leadership in 1996, and having added a minor in addiction counseling, I earned a License in Chemical Dependency and worked in addiction services for over a decade. I moved into the independent school setting where I served happily as Middle School Counselor for Fort Worth Country Day for 15 years, and Upper School Counselor for Trinity Valley School for 7 years. I earned my LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in 2004 and my LPC-S (Supervisor) in 2022. Now in private practice full-time, I work with teens, pre-teens, adults, and couples. In 2023, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Counseling at Texas Wesleyan University and am enjoying the wide array of theoretical knowledge and the systemic perspective this study is bringing to my practice. Trauma effects the brain and thus, every aspect of being human. Being trained in EMDR allows me a nontraditional approach to trauma treatment that eases symptoms of PTSD and other trauma-induced distress and anxiety.
A side interest of mine is intentional creativity, in which I facilitate using creative flow for self-discovery and as a healing modality. Trained as a Cosmic Smashbooking facilitator, I lead groups and work with individuals interested in healing through creativity. I am a 1st Degree Black Belt instructor in the movement technique Nia, a 200 RYT certified yoga instructor, and trained in a mat Pilates technique called Pop Pilates. Teaching mind/body fitness classes has been one of my life’s greatest joys. Emotions are stored in our bodies as well as our minds. My experience with healing through movement and the art of being a sensation scientist informs my counseling practice.
